محلول بی‌رنگ‌کننده گرم

Gram Decolorizer is a chemical reagent used in microbiology, primarily for differentiating Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria during Gram staining.

🏭⚗️ Production
Gram Decolorizer is typically prepared by mixing ethanol or acetone with water in specific proportions, commonly 95% ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and acetone (e.g., 95% ethanol and 5% acetone). The solution is thoroughly mixed and stored in a tightly sealed container at room temperature, away from direct light to maintain its effectiveness.

🔬 Properties
Gram Decolorizer is a colorless, volatile liquid with strong solvent properties. It dissolves the lipid outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, allowing the primary stain to be washed out, while Gram-positive bacteria retain the stain due to their thicker peptidoglycan layer.

🧪 Applications
This reagent is used during the Gram staining procedure as a critical step to differentiate bacterial cell wall types by selectively removing the primary stain from Gram-negative bacteria, thus enabling differential visualization under a microscope.

⚠️ Safety
Handle with care; ethanol and acetone are highly flammable and can cause skin and eye irritation. Use gloves and eye protection, and work in a well-ventilated area away from ignition sources. Avoid ingestion and inhalation. Dispose of waste according to local chemical safety regulations.
