محلول کلر (200 ppm) با 0.1٪ سدیم دودسیل سولفات
Chlorine Solution (200 ppm) with 0.1% Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) is a disinfectant solution combining the oxidative power of chlorine with the detergent properties of SDS to enhance cleaning and microbial inactivation.
🏭⚗️ Production
The solution is prepared by dissolving an appropriate amount of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) in distilled water to achieve a free chlorine concentration of 200 parts per million (ppm). Then, 0.1% (w/v) sodium dodecyl sulfate is added as a surfactant to improve wetting and cleaning efficiency. The solution should be freshly prepared or stored in opaque containers to minimize chlorine degradation.
🔬 Properties
This solution is clear, pale yellow with a strong chlorine odor. Chlorine acts as a strong oxidizing agent, capable of killing bacteria, viruses, and fungi. SDS, an anionic detergent, reduces surface tension, facilitating the removal of organic matter and biofilms. The combined solution exhibits synergistic disinfectant activity.
🧪 Applications
Used extensively in healthcare, food industry, and laboratories for surface disinfection, instrument cleaning, and wastewater treatment. The presence of SDS enhances the removal of dirt and microbial films, making chlorine more effective against resistant microorganisms.
⚠️ Safety
Chlorine solutions are corrosive and can cause respiratory irritation, skin burns, and eye damage. SDS can cause skin and eye irritation. Handle with gloves, eye protection, and in well-ventilated areas. Avoid mixing with acids or ammonia to prevent release of toxic gases. Store in tightly sealed containers away from heat and sunlight.
