Wright Stain Solution is a polychromatic staining reagent commonly used for differential staining of blood smears and bone marrow specimens in clinical and research laboratories.

🏭⚗️ Production
Wright stain is prepared by combining eosin Y (an acidic dye) and methylene blue (a basic dye) in a methanol solution. Methanol serves both as the solvent and as a fixative, allowing simultaneous fixation and staining of cellular components.

🔬 Properties
Wright stain appears as a dark purple or reddish liquid. It provides excellent contrast by staining acidic cell components (like nuclei) blue to purple and basic components (such as cytoplasm and hemoglobin) pink to red. The solution is stable under standard laboratory conditions and is typically used undiluted or slightly buffered for optimal staining performance.

🧪 Applications
This stain is primarily used in hematology for evaluating peripheral blood smears and bone marrow aspirates. It enables the differentiation of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Wright stain is also used in clinical cytology to help identify abnormal cells in various disease states, including infections and hematologic disorders.

⚠️ Safety
Wright stain contains methanol, which is flammable and toxic. Adequate ventilation, gloves, and protective eyewear are recommended during use. Avoid skin contact and inhalation of vapors. Store in a well-sealed container, away from heat and direct sunlight.
