A clear to slightly tinted, strongly acidic aqueous solution exhibiting high reactivity toward stainless steel oxide layers, weld heat-tints, and embedded surface impurities. Non-flammable under normal laboratory conditions but highly corrosive and reactive with incompatible materials. Stable under proper storage in cool, dry, tightly closed containers.
